SOGIE EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR BUSINESS LEADERS
The Embassy of Netherlands in the Philippines and The Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce kicks off IDAHOTB with a SOGIE Session for Top Executives and heads of Companies.
On the eve of International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOTB), The Embassy of Netherlands in the Philippines and The Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce invited more than 70 key executives and business leaders from the country’s top corporations and organizations for a topline session on SOGIE.
The Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce as led by Mr. Simoun Ferrer, Vice Chair for Education and Research created a SOGIE (Sexual Orientation on Gender Identity and Expression) framework that is unique to the business and corporate setting. The SOGIE Executive Session (SES) is to help leaders understand persons of SOGIE and aims to enable them to pilot and lead in their own organizations.
Aside from SES, Brian Tenorio, Founding Chair of the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce also discussed the plans of the Chamber which included the launch of the Philippine Corporate SOGIE Diversity Index (CSDI). The CSDI is led by Mr Evan Tan, Vice Chair for Industry of the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce. It is the first of its kind to survey the business sphere in the country comparing gender diversity policies of Filipino owned corporations benchmarking them against the global business scene. The release of this study will be done at the later part of 2018 and is made possible with the partnership with the Embassy of Netherlands in the Philippines.
To cap off the event, a ceremonial pinning of #KERI pins was done by her Excellency, Ambassador Marion Derckx of the Dutch Embassy and Founding Chair Brian Tenorio of the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce. Keri pins were given out to everyone to wear proudly and show support for IDAHOTB. Keri is a Philippine phenomenon or slang that is usually said when one is okay or accepting of an idea, person or activity.
The event was held last May 16, Wednesday 6 to 9 pm at the Dutch Embassy Residence in Makati Philippines.
